Topic: Isolated wetlands are dynamic hydrologic systems that recharge groundwater, filter pollutants, and provide habitat for numerous species in the coastal zone. In light of recent federal and state judicial rulings over the jurisdiction of isolated wetlands, the Coastal Training Program is offering a half-day workshop dedicated to defining the role, regulations, and rulings surrounding isolated wetlands in the coastal zone. Workshop Objective: To inform local decision-makers about the ecological role of isolated wetlands, along with the regulations, permitting processes, and recent judicial rulings over the jurisdiction of isolated wetlands in South Carolina Who Should Attend: City and County officials, developers, engineers, landscape architects, planners, and other decision-makers involved in coastal planning and management issues.
