This session is geared toward providing to transportation planners in Florida and other states information on issues related to senior transportation and mobility. Main topics are: I. Overview of the Types of Issues that Seniors and Transportation Agencies Face Today and in the Future II. Senior Driver Challenges -- What the Research Tells Us III. How Transportation Agencies are Responding IV. Potential Strategies for Improving Mobility and Safety of Seniors A.) Lifelong Communities B.) Consortiums and Partnerships C.) Research on the Horizon V. Resources for More Information and Closing Thoughts -- All Through this session, attendees will gain a better understanding of the challenges facing both senior drivers and transportation agencies (federal, state, and local) and responses by the transportation agencies to address those challenges. A discussion of potential strategies and case studies will also enlighten the attendees regarding senior mobility and safety. This webinar would be helpful to any planner dealing with social equity issues regarding the elderly.
