APA Los Angeles presents: Planning for Public Health with William Roschen, Jean Armbruster, and Susan Tae The Los Angeles Section of the APA is pleased to present the first in an ongoing series of discussions addressing the ways in which planners and designers are working to solve the public health challenges afflicting our communities. This first event will focus on recent (and ongoing) efforts by the City and County of Los Angeles to address public health issues through new and innovative policies and procedures. Bill Roschen, head of the City's Planning Commission, will discuss the City's efforts, including the development of a Public Health Element for the General Plan Framework. Jean Armbruster, director of the County Public Health Department's PLACE program will speak about Project RENEW and the department's other initiatives aimed at improving health outcomes by adapting the physical environment. Susan Tae, Supervising Regional Planner with the Los Angeles County Department of Regional Planning, will focus on the County's Healthy Design Ordinance, passed earlier this year. The discussion will be moderated by Jonathan Nettler, Managing Editor at Planetizen.com.
