This introductory course aims to increase the ability of local decision makers to identify wetlands and understand wetland boundaries based upon hydrologic, soil, and vegetation indicators commonly found in the Lowcountry of South Carolina. Dr. Richard Darden with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will lead classroom and field instruction, which will include site visits to wetlands within the Caw Caw Nature and History Interpretive Center property. Participants should dress for the weather and be prepared to tromp around in the woods and mud.
