Overview

Despite its being a relatively young city, Miami's downtown has a number of historic buildings worthy of preservation and restoration. "Facade" author Damir Sinovcic will present an overview of downtown Miami's evolution starting with the land boom of the early 20th century to the post-depression era, with photographs, artist renderings, and the line drawings of historic downtown buildings as the backdrop. Development consultant and urban planner Benji Power will add to the discussion with his experiences in working with developers and property owners to preserve historic buildings. Historic Preservation Officer Megan Schmitt from the City of Miami will round out the discussion with perspective on historic preservation from the public sector.
