The All Aboard Florida high-speed rail proposal is a true regional planning challenge which involves multiple government agencies over a large geographic area (Miami to Orlando). The Planning Challenges are complex and cover almost every aspect of planning. The Treasure Coast Section has three Counties which are directly affected by the All Aboard Florida proposal. Many of the Treasure Coast Section Members are working directly on the project as it passes through their City/Town/County. Kim DeLaney, Strategic Development Coordinator for the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council, has been directly involved with the project since day one. Ms. DeLaney has met with countless stakeholders over the past year and is considered by many to know more about the planning challenges associated with the project than anyone else. The Treasure Coast Section wanted to bring together its members to conduct a Planner’s Roundtable on the many transportation, citizen involvement and environmental issues associated with the project. Of the countless meetings which have occurred across the region there has not been a meeting of professional planners, and the Treasure Coast Section wanted to organize a meeting of its members in a roundtable format to work on the planning issues associated with one of the biggest regional planning projects to hit southeast Florida in decades.
