The M-Path, the official name of the paved trail that meanders underneath the elevated metrorail tracks, is an underutilized open space in Miami-Dade County. Working with Miami-Dade County Parks and Transit Departments, the Friends of the Greenlink are driving an initiative to transform the land underneath the Metrorail into a contiguous 10 Mile Linear Park, from Brickell Station to Dadeland South Station. Friends of the Greenlink teamed with the University of Miami School of Architecture to study the 10 mile segment, envisioning its future as a vibrant public space. Led by a group of professionals in the field of parks and open space planning, the event will consist of a bicycle tour of the existing M-Path, commencing at the Vizcaya Museum and finishing at the Dadeland South station. The tour will include stops at key points along the route to discuss strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to the future redevelopment of the M-Path. A pop-up park at Dadeland South will end the tour and refreshments will be served.
