This all-day seminar will feature local speakers from law, environmental consultants, economic development specialists, planners, and other professions. The proposed session is designed to teach subject matter relating to intermediate and advanced practical skills associated with economic redevelopment of brownfields in SW Florida. The sessions will utilize PowerPoint presentations and handouts that explain the legal and practical planning issues of brownfields redevelopment with the goal of providing practical advice based upon real world examples and experience in SW Florida. The program organizers invite developers, investors, realtors, governments and other interested persons to learn about brownfields, hear success stories, and opportunities to develop existing borwnfield sites. The session will address the need to inform fully related to the economic, legal and practical aspects of brownfields redevelopment. There will be formal presentations, panel discussion, and opportunities for questions, answers. The educational objective will be appropriate for AICP members as they learn new developments in redevelopment, law, economic development and planning. The speakers will draw on professional experience in land use planning, law, the natural environment and other fields.
