How has urban design changed over the years? How are development projects affected by economic, marketing and design considerations? How have applicants adapted projects to comply with Code requirements? How can the development process be improved? Because planners and building officials are only involved in the entitlement/permit process, our understanding of a new development project is inherently limited. “Architecture 101” will provide you with a deeper understanding of the development process from the architect’s perspective. In this unique training, attendees will learn from a panel of architects with expertise in developing successful residential, commercial, office,and adaptive reuse projects. The panel will discuss architectural trends, best practices that have streamlined the development process, and what happens “behind the scenes” before and after a project is submitted for permits. By learning different perspectives on development, this training will help planners and building officials develop innovative and collaborative solutions to challenging projects.
