Overview

New FCC rules and recent legislation, such as 2012’s Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act, have changed the way cities regulate new wireless sites and colocations. During this program, planners will hear about how these new rules affect them from two practicing attorneys with extensive experience in the telecommunications industry. This program will also provide a greater understanding of the latest “shot clock” deadlines for wireless applications, best practices for regulating small cells, Distributed Antenna Systems, and other installations in the public right-of-way, and how to determine whether a wireless application should be processed administratively or through a discretionary review process. Upon completion of this program, planners will be better equipped to update City wireless ordinances, address wireless siting issues, and streamline the review process in accordance with Federal law.
