Overview

This is a new program put together by the Smart Growth Partnership of South Florida The first program will focus on the planning and design of Brickell City Centre Miami's largest mixed-use urban development now under construction. It exemplifies smart growth, sustainability, connectivity and many other principles utilized in the design. Integral to the design approach for Brickell CityCentre is a commitment to sustainability with a focus on connectivity and smart growth principles. Developed in the dense, urban location of downtown Miami, Brickell CityCentre is poised to be a dynamic example of urban redevelopment where mixed use buildings create a well-balanced neighborhood with opportunities to work, live, shop and socialize in an established community. Adhering to the vision of Miami 21 and utilizing LEED for Neighborhood Development as a metric, Brickell CityCentre capitalizes on traits inherent in its location, such as mass transportation access, while setting ambitious goals in water conservation, energy reduction and storm water management. The presentation will review how Brickell City Centre represents the Smart Growth principles in itself as well as how it integrates with its surrounding neighborhood, so both the project and neighborhood thrive in a long term mutually beneficial relationship.
