This is a program featuring discussion of mixed use development, economic development, and “Meeting Market demands for Walkable Urban Communities” — a 1-day educational and informational forum. The target audience includes lenders, developers and elected officials, planners, engineers, attorneys and other professionals to convey the economic advantages of urban form development, infill and redevelopment, TOD and traditional neighborhood type mixed use. Focus is on finance, economic advantage, land valuation, ROI, and case studies, The program is part of a partnership of the Promised Lands Section of APA and other interested parties including the City of Fort Myers, Florida Gulf Coast University and the SW Florida Community Foundation. The format will be several speakers — local and national — audience participation, question and answer to follow. The educational objective will be appropriate for AICP members as they learn new developments in planning, economic development, mixed use, urban design - specific to the State of Florida and the SW Florida region in particular. The speakers will draw on professional experience urban design, finance, and planning. The content will not be basic in nature, but will be an in depth discussion about critical matters to planners, land use attorneys, engineers, and other professionals in the State of Florida.
