The panelists will discuss the Imperial County Transportation Commission's (ICTC) Pedestrian and Bicycle Transportation Access Study for the California/Baja California Land Ports of Entry. This collaborative effort is the first binational active transportation study in the nation. The study seeks to describe pedestrians and bicyclists cross-border travel experience at the California-Mexico Ports of Entry. The study identifies opportunities to improve conditions for non-motorized users and proposes infrastructure improvements and strategies to facilitate pedestrian and bicycle mobility at the border. The panel includes: Jose I. Marquez-Chavez, AICP -- Associate Transportation Planner, Caltrans Virginia Mendoza -- Imperial County Transportation Commission Elisa Arias -- Principal Planner, San Diego Association of Governments Seth Torma, AICP -- Consultant, Parsons Brinckerhoff Carlos Lopez -- Land Use Director, Baja California State Government Jose Marquez-Chavez, AICP from Caltrans will moderate the program. Based on the panel discussion, Mr. Chavez will focus on the strategies and collaborative efforts with other agencies to prepare the plan.
