Overview

In the absence of redevelopment, cities and counties must find alternative ways in which to grow their local tax base. Planners, as land use policy analysts, have always played a key role in helping to shape the economic advancement of their communities. In this luncheon, planners will learn tools for economic development and prospects for public private partnerships in a post redevelopment environment. The panel will discuss how to integrate these principals into general plans and specific plan documents. Planners will learn about the financing tools currently available and how to develop an economic program on a tight budget. The panel will also share local case studies of economic development successes and failures.
