Workshop participants will be presented with an overview of SMUD’s 59th Street project – a 20-acre infill site formerly used as an industrial, corporation yard since 1946. The project team is exploring development options including mixed-use and transit-oriented development (TOD) for future reuse of the site that will be compatible with the surrounding residential and neighborhood-serving commercial uses.

Expert speakers will guide participants through current project status, timeline, location, setting and preliminary neighbor feedback. The second-half of the event will feature a participatory, facilitated small group exercise for participants to incorporate planning best practices within the specific neighborhood context while diving deeper into project constraints and development opportunities.

The workshop will conclude with report outs from the small groups and project concept feedback given to the project team.
