Social Determinants of Health
Topic: Explicitly including health considerations into the practice and profession of planning has gained significant momentum in the past five years. When the integration of planning and health is carefully applied, positive health outcomes result in the places where people live, learn, work, and play. In order to enhance the planners' toolkit to better engage into a meaningful healthy communities dialogue with key stakeholders, the California Planning Roundtable has compiled various resources into a paper entitled "The Social Determinants of Health for Planners: Live, Work, Play, Learn!" This workshop will provide an introduction to the social determinants of health concept and its applicability to planning based on such publication.
