Green infrastructure capitalizes on ecosystem services, providing many benefits to society with minimal investment. Green infrastructure facilitates the use of natural processes to help mitigate negative effects such as storm water runoff. In addition to the esthetic and environmental benefits of green infrastructure there are also potential savings in capital expenditures. This brownbag will review current thinking and practice of green infrastructure, highlight local examples and discuss the current challenges and strategies to further its implementation and complimentary projects in our region.
