The APA San Diego Annual Awards is a night of celebrating forward-thinking, innovative, and impactful planning projects and individuals. The 2016 APA San Diego Awards Ceremony will recognize projects and people that exemplify the best of the planning profession in the San Diego region. This year's ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 5th, at the Downtown Encinitas Library.
Prior to the awards ceremony, The APA San Diego Awards Walking Tour will guide participants on a tour of downtown Encinitas, with walking moderators between stops as well as speakers at various stops along the tour. The 1.5-hour tour will make stops at various locations around downtown Encinitas that both pay tribute to the City’s past and look forward to the City’s future. These locations include 1) Encinitas Train Station; 2) La Paloma Theater; 3) Moonlight Beach; 4) Pacific View Elementary (future redevelopment site), Old School House, and historic boat houses; 5) Pacific Station (recent mixed-use development); 6) Self-Realization Fellowship; 7) Santa Fe Drive Pedestrian Undercrossing; 8) Cardiff Coastal Rail Trail; and 9) City Hall. Speakers have been chosen based on their knowledge of these locations/projects, and will educate participants along the tour.
