Activating Redevelopment Plans - You Have the Plan, Now What?

Does your town have or need a redevelopment plan? Have you designated areas in need of redevelopment or rehabilitation? Are you a developer being solicited by a town to implement their redevelopment vision? All of these are valid considerations and questions when change and improvement needs to take place in a community – is there a Redevelopment Plan and what does that mean?
This workshop will provide participants with an understanding about issues and conditions that trigger the need for redevelopment plans and the process and concerns involved in negotiating the implementation of your plan. Key elements of a viable and practical plan document will be defined; the process for selecting a redeveloper or acting as your own development entity will be examined; how do you consider and negotiate the fiscal impact that redevelopment can have on your municipality; and what side of the aisle are you looking at the plan from and do you understand the other sides point of view?

* Discuss issues and neighborhood conditions that
trigger redevelopment plans
* Explore best practices for creating redevelopment
plans and identify key elements.
* Assess factors of fiscal impact due to redevelopment.
* Examine effective redeveloper selection processes
* Promote “Real Talk” between the planning, municipal
and developer communities.
