Tampa’s Riverwalk is an example of riverfront planning that preserves the waterfront for citizens and invites an active participation in civic life. Through placemaking, infrastructure, amenities, and community activities, the Riverwalk provides an opportunity for Tampa residents to live, work and play. Beginning at Curtis Hixon Park and ending near the Tampa Bay History Center, the interactive walking tour will discuss the history and planning efforts behind the Riverwalk, placemaking strategies, and urban entertainment venues to enhance the pedestrian experience and draw community members to a shared space.
