Description of the Event:
Within the broader theme of “partnerships in planning,” Stephen Coultson from the Austin, TX office of Perkins + Will will present the master plan for the 500-acre proposed research and technology mixed-use development in Osceola County, anchored by the International Consortium of Advanced Manufacturing Research facility (ICAMR). Osceola County Manager, Don Fisher, will also be presenting alongside him and highlighting the array of economic, community and regional impacts of this master plan.
You’ll learn about:
• Advances in smart sensors and photonics research and development
• Creating and designing a mixed-use master plan, anchored by a global destination for science and engineering
• Managing growth with regional connections and opportunities for economic development
• Diversifying a local economic base through provision of housing, services and amenities.
Planners will gain an understanding of the project from both the consultant’s perspective as well as that of the implementing jurisdiction. After the lecture by the Mr. Coulston and Mr. Fisher, there will be a moderated panel discussion, which will be followed by an opportunity for moderated question and answers. The moderated panel will include a regional planner, a local professor, as well as a local planner / recent Graduate from the University of Central Florida, Masters of Science in Urban and Regional Planning.
