Overview

FOR AECOM EMPLOYEES ONLY - The presentation offered an overview of the various analyses associated with the environmental review process. It included the major legislation, program, stakeholders, as well as the process of addressing requirements associated with assessing impacts to the environment.  

The speaker provided examples of different environmental processes, documents, and requirements, as well as some key distinctions and misconceptions about the purpose of these assessments.  

The session included three example projects in different stages of development to illustrate lessons learned and potential opportunities and threats within the review process.  

Also discussed were methods of surveying and assessing quality of the environment. The Q&A session provided additional clarity about recent developments in NEPA documentation and the general direction of the environmental planning field. Discussion also included implications of the new federal administration for environmental work and permitting.

Laurent Cartayrade manages AECOM Arlington’s environmental planning group and has been with the company since 2000.
