Overview

The Tampa Bay Transportation Applications Group meeting is FREE and will be held for three (2) hours at the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District 7 in Tampa, FL.  This two-hour  meeting includes  three presentations by the Florida Department of Transportation and the Space Coast TPO covering these topics: FDOT and Space Florida – The State of Space; Space Age Travel Using New HyperLoop Technology; Space Coast TPO – Planning for trails, highway and space exploration.

Space Coast TPO - Life After LRTP Adoption:

Steven Bostel, Space Coast TPO

The Space Coast Transportation Planning Organization (SCTPO) adopted its 2040 LRTP in October 2015.  This area is transforming both in population and economic development, with many interesting growth areas including ecotourism, cruise tourism, freight expansion, and space exploration.  This presentation will address how the TPO is addressing the needs for improved transportation with a focus on safety, multimodal connections and implementation of projects from the LRTP for this rapidly growing area.

State of Space – FDOT and Space Florida:

Bunti Patel, on Behalf of Space Florida and AECOM

Space Florida is an Independent Special District of the State of Florida, created for the purposes of fostering the growth and development of a sustainable and world-leading space industry in Florida.  As the State of Florida’s aerospace economic development agency, Space Florida fosters economic development activities to expand and diversify domestic and international opportunities.  As a team member with the FDOT and Space Florida, AECOM supports the requirements for both of these state agencies. This presentation will address responsibilities of FDOT and Space Florida; Cape Canaveral Spaceport (CCS) history and capabilities; and Space Florida’s vision to be the global leader in enabling space commerce.

Space Age Travel - Hyperloop Global One Challenge:

John Kulpa, AECOM Technical Services, Inc.

Applications for a worldwide competition are due to Hyperloop One by the end of October.  AECOM is submitting an application for a Miami corridor pilot project that will move people and goods within Miami and eventually to the Greater Orlando area using Hyperloop technology as it develops.  This presentation will address the background of Hyperloop concepts and AECOM’s involvement in a Hyperloop Conference for competition among universities for technology development and the worldwide competition.
