Overview

Brett Baker is one of four owners of the Wicked Barley Brewery – one of the newest brew pubs in the City of Jacksonville.  The owners believe Jax  is an up and coming city and think the brewery will help play a role in revitalization.

The brewery was founded on Feb 1, 2014 – opening in June 2016 after overcoming two years of planning and permitting hurdles.  The owners purchased land on Baymeadows Road, with waterfront access.  It is a 2.33 acre site and includes a dock that can accommodate 10 boards.  The brewery is about 7KSF –half brewing functions and half restaurant/public space.

WB beer is distributed through Brown Distribution among local restaurants and retail shops.

The speaker will share how the site was rezoned to permit the brew pub, site development challenges and operational restrictions to compliment the neighborhood and ensure business survival. The presentation will include a tour of the brewery so planners can learn first-hand the elements involved in a brew pub. The aim is to demonstrate the function of the building to provide regulatory planners with tools to craft regs that fit the industry.
