Overview

Gregory Brackin Director of Operations and ADA Support, provided a 30 minute

TECO Street Car “Car Barn” behind the scenes tour showcasing what has to

happen before the streetcars go into service, what happens at the end of the day,

and the work that goes into keeping the streetcars running. Also, the tour featured

the Birney #163, the 1920s Birney Safety Car that was fully restored by the Tampa;

Ybor City Street Railway Society.

 

Following the tour, Margaret Kubilkins, PE, ENV SP presented the local challenges

and possible solutions to improve the first and last mile transit options. Focusing

on pedestrian and bicycle design do’s and don’ts, Ms. Kubilins displayed

challenges and solutions for improvements around the street car travel area that

would significantly improve pedestrian and cyclist safety, and encourage more first

and last mile trips.
