The Florida Department of Transporation. District 4 will provide 2.5 hour training on the region’s STOPS planning model implemented for transit corridor studies. The model covers three counties in Southeast Florida – Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach. It has been made available to the region’s public agencies and consultants for generating transit ridership forecasts on the upcoming fixed guideway projects in the region, including Bus Rapid Transit, LRT, HRT, commuter rail and streetcar projects.

The training will focus on the following topics:

  • Provide brief overview of the model’s interface and set up
  • Provide detailed information on the assembly and development of model input data
  • Provide overview of regional calibration results
  • Identify additional tasks/updates users need to perform to apply the model for a specific corridor
  • Discussion on model application for two corridors
