The session delved into the ethics codes of both the AICP and ICMA Codes of Ethics, which evolved from roots in the reform movement, but they have each taken different paths.  While each code holds many tenets in common, underlying aspects of each profession’s belief structure may lead to conflicts of understanding.  These differing belief structures can be balanced to achieve ethical results.

Presenters provided an overview of both the AICP and ICMA code of ethics, compared and contrasted details, then offered a pop quiz on the contents.  Then, scenarios were explained where participants actively had to weigh into whether the situations were ethical or not, or how they would handle the situation.  After, the presenters would evaluate the situation and offer possible approaches.
