This session will explore Sarasota County's journey taking a borrow pit to a world class rowing and aquatics center.  It will look at how Sarasota County and its partners have turned an underutilized park into an elite sports venue that will host the 2017 World Rowing Championships. AICP members will learn what it takes to host a World Championship from bidding to planning and final execution. After the session, attendees will be participating on a tour of the park facilities.
