Overview

Bike sharing is a transit system that enables its customers to make short trips using a network of publicly accessible bikes.  The goals of bike sharing are to ease traffic, promote fitness, create business for retailers, and reduce our dependence on fossil fuels.

Lori McCarney, CEO of Bikeshare Hawaii, will speak to the benefits that bikeshare can provide and how they would be manifested through various use cases and scenarios. Biki is Honolulu’s new bikeshare program that will be launching summer 2017.

Bikeshare Hawaii is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization established to launch and manage a bikeshare program in the State of Hawaii. It strives to create a strong public/private partnership in order to launch and maintain bikeshare systems throughout the State. It is using public and private funding to launch operations and is designed to maintain and grow system coverage through revenue generated by its customers.
