Drawn from the popular Leadership Institutes conducted annually at the National Planning Conference and by the California Chapter of the American Planning Association, this session will give planners a bite-sized opportunity to sit down with fellow professionals to enhance their leadership skills through facilitated discussion. In this interactive workshop, planners will work in small groups on problem solving exercises, including how to deal with challenging situations and how to build a high-performing, collaborative team. Additional discussion topics will include the needs of emerging leaders and their staffs, teambuilding, motivation, team discipline, and succession planning, among others. This session was developed through APA California’s leadership development project, in conjunction with the California Planning Roundtable.
