During the last few years, there has been a major economic transition in the retail industry. Major retail chains have merged or cease to exist, while others are closing stores at a rapid pace. In the meantime, online shopping though Amazon and other outlets are impacting traditional retail shopping. These trends have major implications for land use in Orange County cities, and are impacting many major corridors throughout the region.

In response, ULI Orange County has organized a series of programs aimed at the future of our retail corridors. This first program, “Retail Reality Check” is intended to provide real time insights to public official on these emerging trends.

You will hear from national experts on the coming economic and demographic trends in the region, an expert panel moderated by a Retail Market Leader for CBRE Southern California and a closing session where ULI District Council representatives share how communities can best plan for these new times.
