The event will include a tour of the Solid Waste Authority's Renewable Energy Facility, a presentation on the facility by the Solid Waste Authority staff, a planner’s discussion on entitlements and public outreach, and some time for Questions & Answers. The Solid Waste Authority's Renewable Energy Facility is a $672 million dollar, state-of-the-art waste to energy facility, the first of its kind in more than 15 years, and is the most advanced and cleanest waste-to-energy power plant in the united States.  The facility generates 100 megawatts and is estimated to reduce the amount of waste going to the Solid Waste Authority's landfill by 90 percent, extending its lifetime until 2043-2045.
