Overview

California APA Northern along with AEP East Bay will hosting a conversation about the development of one of Oakland’s most successful new mixed use developments.  The Hive, the hip, new cluster of retail, office, housing, and community gather space, and has brought new vibrancy to the long dilapidated block of buildings on Oakland’s historic Broadway Auto Row. The event will be held at, Drake’s Dealership, a former car dealership and one of the Hive’s several wildly successful restaurants.  Signature, the developer behind the development will give a short present on the idea behind the development, the collaboration that made it happen, and the challenges and benefits of building and operating a mixed use space out of historic structures. Oakland city staff and key tenant, Impact Hub co-working center, representatives have also been invited to answer questions about their role in the development.
