Overview

Dave Self, Resource Ecologist, will lead hike on Audubon Canyon Ranch’s remote, 3,000-acre Modini Mayacamas Preserves, high above the Alexander and Knights Valleys. Identify serpentine sunflowers, turpentine weed and other late summer wildflowers. See views of Alexander Valley and the outer Coast Ranges. Dave will talk about the environmental history of the area (which included an 1870’s mining town), the role of fire in the ecology of the region, and about ACR’s fire program and mountain lion project.
