Overview

The Broward Section has arranged for a unique behind the scenes tour of the City Of Weston's Emergeny Operations Center (EOC). The EOC is a storm hardened structure designed to house City Staff and service providers before during and after disaster events; giving the City the ability to continue operations in the event of a disaster and manage operations from a centralized location. Weston, on the very edge of the Everglades, is especially vulnerable duirng extreme weather events. This is the height of Hurricane Season in Florida.

In addition to the tour, City Manager John R Flint and his staff will provide insight into the planning, coordination and operations involved in preparing for and managing emergencies such as hurricanes, tornadoes, flooding and mandatory evacutations using best management practices and resources.
