The traditional model of economic development has undergone a rapid transition. Now communities large and small are attracting millennial entrepreneurs AND senior entrepreneurs. Home- based businesses now account for a sizable portion of the local economy — which presents planning and zoning issues. The spin-off businesses from current local businesses now are job creators. The era of chasing businesses from other communities is rapidly waning. We are now looking even to high school and college students for economic development activity. Economic Development has changed...and the excitement is palpable.
