Getting Started to Get Ahead: From Interview to First Days at a New Job

In the session, a planner and a career services professional share their experiences and knowledge to offer new professionals and students insights to help make sense of a new workplace.

They will present lessons learned and insights from their work in the public, private, nonprofit, and academic sectors. The session will provide tips and recommendations for students, newer professional just starting out. and those looking to advance in their careers. Q&A with the audience is welcome.

Learning Objectives

  1. Share with new professionals and students what to expect in the interview process and how to make a positive first impression.
  2. Help new professionals and students understand the skills most needed in the planning workplace
  3. Help new professionals and students understand what to expect from senior managers and which behaviors to cultivate that will help to advance career opportunities.
