This webinar will provide an overview of APA’s Sustaining Places initiative and guidance on comprehensive plan standards. Learn about how to use this scoring system to measure a comprehensive plan against this national standard. Hear about Envision Longmont, Longmont’s comp plan that was recently recognized by APA as part of the Comprehensive Plan Standards for Sustaining Places Recognition Program pilot. Learn tips and tools to tackle your next comp plan update!

2. Best practice-based guidance to address plan content, processes, and attributes - including lessons from Envision Longmont

3. How to use the scoring system to review elements of a comprehensive plan


This session will focus on APA’s Sustaining Places Initiative, which is designed to build the capacity of local jurisdictions to integrate sustainability into their comprehensive plans. Through this session, attendees with gain an understanding of the initiative. The resource toolkit is based on best practices from leading plans, and provides guidance on plan content (sustainability principles), processes (community engagement and plan implementation), and the design attributes of the plan. It also includes a scoring system that can be used to measure a comprehensive plan against a national standard. The webinar will feature a case study from Longmont and their Envision Longmont plan. The webinar will conclude with Q and A between the participants and presenters.
