The Confined Feeding Tour and Discussion Workshop is an interactive hand on the opportunity to get to see a well-planned 8,000 head hog Confined Feeding Operation up close and in person. While at the facility participants will hear from the facility operator and the local planning staff and board member in regards to the site operations and special features required to comply with local zoning ordinance requirements. After the site visit, there will be lunch served and an in-depth discussion regarding the local requirements that went into that sites final design which played a key role in making the project into a successful community project. As well as an opportunity to have a roundtable-style discussion in regards to some of Wells County’s and participants communities’ struggles in the planning world regarding Confined Feeding Operations. With a goal of providing tools to help work through these issues and to create connections between community leaders across Indiana to help create a rural planning network.
