Attendees will learn about community revitalization tools, tips, best practices, and exciting projects across the APA-PA Central Section. The PA Downtown Center will set the stage by shedding light on how we got to where we are today and providing an overview of the Main Street Program. Subsequently, the PA Department of Community and Economic Development will discuss its programs and resources that could benefit revitalization efforts. Four communities throughout the region will then share their revitalization initiatives, including what worked and what did not. (Lititz Borough, Lancaster County; Carlisle Borough, Cumberland County; Williamsport, Lycoming County; and Hershey, Dauphin County)
The workshop will conclude with a discussion of the biggest challenges facing communities and lessons learned from the revitalization efforts presented.
Also, during this session there will be a learning in the fast lane mini-session directly after lunch which is a brief interactive group exercise in which attendees learn what is happening in the region’s planning world.
