Connecting young people with professionals in the fields of Planning. Architecture, Urban Design and Environmental Systems one of the purposes of the CityLab High School Summit.  Mitchell J Silver, FAICP, Past President of APA and Parks Commissioner for the City of New York is the keynote speaker.  His talk will focus on what makes a successful city and how students who learn and understand planning principles can make that happen.  Following the keynote there will be two one hour panel discussions led by leaders in the architecture, urban planning and environmental planning fields to discuss design based thinking and actions and the importance of planning.  Students will be in attendance, but the keynote and panels will on a professional level.


APA Texas Chapter and North Central Section of APA Texas Section are one of the sponsors of the Summit with the intention of expanding the planning education at the school.  CityLab Foundation Board members include Bill Dahlstrom, FAICP and Ann Bagley, FAICP. Other APA members include Bob Prejean, AICP, Peer Chacko (one of the panelist, Jaynie Schultz, and Tony Shidid.


CityLab High School is a choice school of the Dallas Independent School District.  The focus of the school is on Architecture, Planning, and Environmental Systems
