Sustainable CT is a voluntary certification program to recognize thriving and resilient Connecticut municipalities. An independently funded, grassroots, municipal effort, Sustainable CT provides a wide-ranging menu of best practices. Municipalities choose Sustainable CT actions, implement them, and earn points toward selection of actions that include incorporating sustainability components into municipal Plans of certification. Sustainable CT includes a broad Conservation and Development as well as zoning regulations.
Within the first year of the program over 70 communities signed on, and 22 achieved certification. This workshop provides an overview of the Sustainable CT program and specifically outlines various ways a municipality’s Plan of Conservation and Development or zoning regulations could be modified to help achieve certification while encouraging town-wide sustainable and resilient practices. The workshop will feature best practices and lessons learned from CT cities and towns. The event is free, but registration is required. Light refreshments will be served.
