Overview

VisionEval is an open source framework for building and running disaggregate strategic planning models.  VisionEval can be extended straightforwardly by researchers and other developers.  The framework and models are currently in use by a number of State transportation agencies and metropolitan planning organizations.  Researchers can benefit by leveraging existing VisionEval modules and models, and deliver their research products in a form that is potentially immediately practical.  We will drill down into VisionEval code and data structures and show how delivering research results and new analytic techniques can be straightforward by working through an extension developed to handle multi-modal travel.

Learning Objectives
  • Explain how VisionEval works as a platform for developing and distributing new analytic tools for transportation planning
  • Show how to obtain VisionEval source code, documentation and sample models, as well as support from other VisionEval users
  • Understand how to develop a new VisionEval module and integrate it into one of the existing VisionEval models
  • List the steps necessary to build a new VisionEval model and incorporate different modules into it
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
This half-day workshop is eligible for 3 hours of professional development credit for AICP. We can provide an electronic attendance certificate for other types of certification maintenance.
