The history of the Second Avenue Subway, including the more than 80-year history of making the project a reality
Participants will tour the new stations of Phase 1 of the Second Avenue Subway, the largest subway expansion project in New York City. The tour will end at the Second Avenue Subway Community Information Center at 125th Street. for a presentation on Phase 2 of the project, and an in-depth look at the robust community outreach program implemented by MTA during Phase 1 and continuing in Phase 2.
The tour will not only highlight the design and innovations of the new stations, but will focus on how mega projects are constructed in dense urban areas - experts will discuss finance, community relations, and planning, looking back at the recently completed Phase 1 and looking to Phase 2, which is just beginning.

Confirmed SpeakerJohn Reinhardt, AICP is a Project Manager with Sam Schwartz Consulting in New York City. In his role as consultant to the MTA, he serves as the Director of Community Outreach for the Second Avenue Subway. He works daily to mitigate the community impact of one of the nation's largest infrastructure projects in the country's densest residential neighborhood.
