  • Tips for conducting effective community outreach for mega projects in urban neighborhoods

  • The history of the Second Avenue Subway, including the more than 80-year history of making the project a reality

Participants will tour the new stations of Phase 1 of the Second Avenue Subway, the largest subway expansion project in New York City. The tour will end at the Second Avenue Subway Community Information Center at 125th Street. for a presentation on Phase 2 of the project, and an in-depth look at the robust community outreach program implemented by MTA during Phase 1 and continuing in Phase 2.

The tour will not only highlight the design and innovations of the new stations, but will focus on how mega projects are constructed in dense urban areas - experts will discuss finance, community relations, and planning, looking back at the recently completed Phase 1 and looking to Phase 2, which is just beginning.
