Invited SpeakerJeremy Klop, AICP, is a Principal at Fehr & Peers in Los Angeles with over 20 years of experience in multimodal transportation planning, traffic operations, and community engagement. At Fehr & Peers, Jeremy serves as the firm’s Director of Strategy and leads the company’s downtown Los Angeles office. His work includes large-scale transportation plans such as LA’s Mobility Plan 2035 and Blueprint Denver as well as transit and active transportation projects like the award-winning LA Union Station Master Plan, LA County’s Active Transportation Strategic Plan, and Metro’s Quality of Life Study. He is currently working on strategies to address the rapidly changing transportation technology environment through the development of interactive data analysis tools, data sharing policies, new metrics for street performance and transportation happiness, and partnerships with new mobility providers. Jeremy also serves as an instructor for the APA Emerging Professionals Institute, frequently lectures and trains practitioners through UC Berkeley Tech Transfer in Complete Streets, and co-authored the Pedestrian & Bicycle chapter of the ITE Transportation Planning Handbook. Jeremy received his BS in Biology from Calvin College and his Master’s degree in regional planning from UNC-Chapel Hill.

Don’s practice focuses on land planning and zoning and international land and urban development issues. He is the author of A Better Way to Zone (Island Press 2008), co-author of The Rules that Shape Urban Form (APA 2012) and The Citizen’s Guide to Planning (APA 2009) and has served as the editor of Colorado Land Planning and Development Law for over 25 years. Don has a bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning and Policy Analysis from Yale University, a law degree from Harvard Law School, and a master’s degree in City and Regional Planning from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard.

Invited SpeakerDave’s career spans forty years as an award-winning professional planner and manager for public and private sector planning and public works agencies, delivering projects locally, nationally and internationally. He provides innovative, collaborative, and outcomes-based planning and communications expertise on land use, transportation, visioning/strategic planning, community development, and infrastructure projects. He has led or participated in countless plans and initiatives, each being given its own unique approach. He is past national President of the American Planning Association, a role that capped 12 years of service on the national board of directors, and was preceded by his service to the Oregon Chapter of APA as Board member and President. He has been a member of AICP since 1983, and was named as a Fellow of AICP in 2008. He helped found and currently serves as a member of the Oregon 2050 Coordinating Committee, a joint effort of APA, AIA, and ASLA dedicated to formulating/advancing a vision for Oregon. Dave currently serves on the Board of Directors for Green Empowerment, a nonprofit organization partnering with rural communities and NGOs in developing countries to build their capacity for self-improvement and to strengthen them by delivering renewable energy and safe, clean water.

Invited SpeakerMary Kay Peck brings 30 years of local government experience at the city, county and regional level to her practice, providing her the knowledge of how to work with local governments. Her service as a city manager, assistant city manager, community development director and planning director have provided her with a strong depth of knowledge of local government operations. Throughout her career, Ms. Peck has managed a number of award winning projects, including the Southern Nevada Regional Planning Coalition Regional Plan, the Downtown Henderson Investment Strategy, the Henderson Visual Interactive Code, and the Springhill, Montana, Community Plan. While president of the American Planning Association, Peck laid the foundation for the organization’s first communication plan and led its first membership growth strategy. She has given numerous presentations and keynote speeches throughout the United States and around the globe on a variety of topics, including leadership, management excellence and city planning. Peck serves as an adjunct professor at St. Petersburg College. She currently serves as President of the board directors for the American Planning Association Foundation. For her work in community service and leadership, Peck has been honored as a Fellow of the American Institute of Certified Planners (FAICP).
