Two experienced planning commissioners lead this facilitated discussion. Explore with the group common problems and concerns, and help decide the topics the group will tackle. Topics may range from ethics and new development to a stagnant economy and working productively with planning staff. This session promises to be lively, engaging, and a great way to learn through peer-to-peer discussion.

Invited SpeakerAs a community planner and as a consultant, Ann Cooke Bagley, FAICP has focused on comprehensive plans, ordinances, park development, and training planning commissions--what really works for the communities in which she is involved. She completed her service as a commissioner on the Dallas City Plan Commission last year after 10 years. Ann is in her second term as a Board Member Elected at Large on the Board of Directors of the American Planning Association elected in 2010 and 2014. She has presented in numerous ethics sessions for both professional planners and planning commissioners. For the Texas Chapter of the American Planning Association, she is the Planning Official Development Officer. In 2010, she was inducted into the College of Fellows of the American Institutes of Certified Planners. Ann also serves as the Vice President of Programs for the Greater Dallas Planning Council.
W. Shedrick Coleman
Confirmed SpeakerW. Shedrick Coleman, AIA is Principal of SHEDDarchitecture and practices architecture, land planning, and interior design. He is registered in Georgia and Texas. Shedrick has served two terms as chairman of the Chatham County–Savannah Metropolitan Planning Commission (MPC) in Georgia and is in his 11th year of service to the community as a commissioner. The planning commission is the joint city-county planning agency responsible for comprehensive planning and zoning recommendations to the member governments and for historic and natural preservation, community, transportation, and land use planning. He is currently serving in his second term on the APA National Board of Directors and serves on the APA Foundation Board of Directors. Shedrick has chaired the APA Design Awards in 2015, 2016, and 2017 , the APA Fellowship Committee, and the APA Planning Commissioners Committee. Shedrick has been an active presenter at the National Planning Conference since 2011 in Boston.
