Saralee L. Morrissey, FAICP
Innovations in linking school planning with traditional planning are cornerstones of Saralee Morrissey’s transformative work as a school district planner. Her school siting and planning became a state model in Florida that led to 2002 legislation mandating an agreement to coordinate planning between school districts and local governments. In 2005 Florida expanded its planning legislation to require a Public School Facilities element in communities’ comprehensive plans; Volusia’s plan established a no-school zone within 200,000 acres of natural resource lands to support smart growth. Morrissey’s vision and passion for schools and planning continues to enhance and support healthy, sustainable communities. Inducted 2016.
