Jonathan Barnett, FAICP

Jonathan Barnett is one of the pioneers of the modern practice of urban design beginning with his work as Director of the New York City Planning Commission's Urban Design Groups in the 1960s. Founder and Director of the Master of Urban Planning in Urban Design program at the City College of New York, he educated a generation of urban designers, while advising cities and towns across the U.S. and publishing significant books and articles about urban design. He is now a Professor of Practice in City and Regional Planning at the University of Pennsylvania. Inducted in 2002.
