Michael D. Watkins, FAICP

Michael Dean Watkins defined the role of Town Architect spanning the specialties of zoning, subdivision regulations, urban design and architecture to deliver beautiful and sustainable neighborhoods and communities. Prior to establishing his firm in 2007, Watkins served as Director of Town Planning with DPZ and Town Architect for nineteen years of the award-winning community Kentlands. Watkins advanced designs and codes for pedestrian-scaled streets, live-work units, accessory apartments, and alleys—practices now widely accepted. An internationally recognized leader in New Urbanism, Watkins’ pursuit of excellence in urban design has created places beloved by their inhabitants and highly regarded by the profession.
