Navigating autonomous vehicles
APA has released a suite of resources to help members maximize the benefits and minimize the negative impacts that autonomous vehicle technology could have on communities. Look for videos from the recently held AV Symposium and a new AV KnowledgeBase collection of reports, briefing papers, policy guides, and planning documents. The collection is open to all thanks to a grant from the Federal Highway Administration.

New webinar: Federal AV legislation
Also new is a recorded webinar that analyzes the status, content, and future of federal autonomous vehicle legislation. The webinar — available only to Planners' Advocacy Network members — explains congressional actions under way to help AV implementation. All APA members are invited to join the free Planners' Advocacy Network and enjoy access to exclusive content like this webinar.

FYI: Tax reform legislation
The House Ways and Means Committee released its long-awaited tax reform legislation, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (HR1,) late last week. The bill retains tax credits important for creating affordable housing in low-income communities but eliminates other tax credits that support community development and historic preservation efforts. Read APA's recap of the bill and find out what you need to know during markup.

Planners come alive in conference proceedings
APA just released a valuable new research tool for members: an index to conference proceedings in the library's E-book Collection. Now it's easy to locate, borrow, and read what Richard Babcock, Catherine Bauer, Edward Bennet, Alfred Bettman, Stuart Chapin, Charles Merriam, Lewis Mumford, John Nolan, Frederick Law Olmsted, and other great planners said at national planning conferences hosted by APA and its predecessor organizations, as far back as 1909. Most of these proceedings have never before existed in digital form, and even physical copies are rare, making this a unique and important member benefit.
